SUMMARY:Last Sunday After the Epiphany
DESCRIPTION:St. Peter’s Episcopal Church joyfully invites the community to celebrate The Last Sunday after the Epiphany at our 10:30 AM worship service on Sunday\, February 15. This special service will feature an extended choir\, including well-beloved professional singers from our community\, joining the St. Peter’s Choir under the direction of Lauma Akmene\, Music Director. \nThe music for this service is truly extraordinary. The choir will offer Epiphany Alleluias by Weaver\, a radiant and uplifting anthem that masterfully blends traditional choral writing with a profound sense of reverence. Also featured will be Morten Lauridsen’s O Nata Lux\, a serene and luminous a cappella motet celebrating the Redeemer. This beloved work is drawn from Lauridsen’s larger composition Lux Aeterna for chorus\, orchestra\, and organ\, and reflects the natural rhythm of chant through its flowing changes in meter. It stands as a jewel of the modern sacred choral repertoire. \nCome and celebrate the close of the Epiphany season with beautiful music that lifts the soul and praises God\, as we prepare our hearts for the beginning of Lent.

SUMMARY:Handel’s Messiah All-Sing
DESCRIPTION:St. Peter’s annual performance of Handel’s glorious oratorio\, “Messiah\,” will take place on Sunday\, December 22 at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free but donations are welcomed to defray the costs of the concert. Since the audience is the chorus\, all are encouraged to bring scores (Watkins-Shaw edition preferred)\, but they will also be on sale for $10 at the door. \nThe professional orchestra will bring the performance to life\, and four wonderful vocal soloists will carry the familiar arias and duets: Hayley Abramovitz\, Soprano; Hunter Shaner\, Countertenor; John Wesley Wright\, Tenor; and Andrew Boisvert\, Bass. \nThe performance is conducted by St. Peter’s Music Director\, James Wallace. \nThere will be an optional choral rehearsal for those who would like to brush up before the performance on Monday\, Dec. 16\, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Of course all members of the public are invited to attend the concert\, whether they will sing or listen\, and regardless of whether they can come to the rehearsal. \nThe church is at the corner of W. Church St. and St. Peters St. in Salisbury. The small parking lot at 110 W. Church St. is reserved for handicapped parking\, but there is ample street parking in the neighborhood. \nDon’t miss this glorious musical event — it will make your holiday season!

SUMMARY:Morning Prayer and Holy Communion
DESCRIPTION:It’s our tradition on the fifth Sunday of the month at the 10:30 a.m. service — the service in which the choir leads our singing — to begin with Morning Prayer followed by Holy Communion. The Prayer Book allows for substituting Morning Prayer for the Liturgy of the Word followed by Holy Communion. So\, for this Sunday\, September 29\, we will begin the 10:30 a.m. service with sung Morning Prayer.
