DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome guest tenor Alex McCoy\, an experienced NYC-based singer who performs regularly with professional ensembles\, including frequent service with the Saint Thomas Fifth Avenue Choir. He has also appeared as a soloist at Marble Collegiate Church in New York City. \nAlex will be joining us for both the 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM services on Sunday\, July 5\, as guest cantor and soloist. He will collaborate with Lauma Akmene in a special presentation of Mendelssohn’s Elijah\, including “Ye People\, Rend Your Hearts” and “If With All Your Hearts.” \nThis will be a joyful and meaningful musical observance of the Independence Day weekend. Please join us for this special Sunday of worship\, featuring a guest musician and festive liturgy at both services.

DESCRIPTION:Lauma is incredibly thankful and excited for the wonderful collection of favorite hymns you have shared! She has loved learning about the hymns that are meaningful to you\, as they reveal so much about the faith\, traditions\, and culture of our congregation. \nLauma is already working on incorporating many of your suggestions into future services. However\, because there are so many wonderful hymns\, we will celebrate even more of them through a special Hymn Sing! \nPlease join us on Sunday\, August 16\, from 9:45–10:15 AM (between services) as we sing some of your favorite hymns together. \nYou may submit hymns from any season of the church year\, and some of them may be included in the hymn sing. The deadline for submitting hymns is Sunday\, August 2. \nThis will be a wonderful community event\, and everyone is welcome! \nDo you love hymns and enjoy singing? Consider joining us in leading the congregation from the choir pews during the hymn sing. Have you ever wondered what it is like to sing from the choir pews? This is a great opportunity to experience it! DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, August 30\, we welcome guest soprano Leah Yackanech\, who will serve as cantor at both our 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. Leah is a graduate of the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and is now continuing her studies at the Peabody Conservatory. She has previously sung and worked with major Episcopal churches in Ohio and has participated in numerous distinguished vocal and opera programs. \nDuring both services\, Leah will sing two wonderful arias by Johann Sebastian Bach: “Ich folge dir gleichfalls” (“I will follow you likewise”) and “Bist du bei mir” (“If you are with me”). These works beautifully connect with the themes of the day’s Scripture readings\, expressing faith\, devotion\, and trust in God’s presence. \nLeah will be accompanied by our Director of Music\, Lauma Akmene.
