DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, August 30\, we welcome guest soprano Leah Yackanech\, who will serve as cantor at both our 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. Leah is a graduate of the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and is now continuing her studies at the Peabody Conservatory. She has previously sung and worked with major Episcopal churches in Ohio and has participated in numerous distinguished vocal and opera programs. \nDuring both services\, Leah will sing two wonderful arias by Johann Sebastian Bach: “Ich folge dir gleichfalls” (“I will follow you likewise”) and “Bist du bei mir” (“If you are with me”). These works beautifully connect with the themes of the day’s Scripture readings\, expressing faith\, devotion\, and trust in God’s presence. \nLeah will be accompanied by our Director of Music\, Lauma Akmene. The Boychoir will participate in our 10:30 a.m. Choral Eucharist\, offering their beautiful voices in worship\, followed by an extended postlude featuring the choir. \nThe Maryland State Boychoir\, Maryland’s “Official Goodwill Ambassadors\,” brings together approximately 130 choristers\, ages 7 to 20\, representing diverse communities from across Maryland\, Baltimore City\, and the D.C. suburbs. The organization is recognized for its commitment to musical excellence\, education\, and service through choral singing. \nThe MSB Tour Choir features some of the organization’s most advanced choristers\, selected for their exceptional musicianship\, sight-singing abilities\, dedication\, and discipline.
