SUMMARY:Last Sunday After the Epiphany
DESCRIPTION:St. Peter’s Episcopal Church joyfully invites the community to celebrate The Last Sunday after the Epiphany at our 10:30 AM worship service on Sunday\, February 15. This special service will feature an extended choir\, including well-beloved professional singers from our community\, joining the St. Peter’s Choir under the direction of Lauma Akmene\, Music Director. \nThe music for this service is truly extraordinary. The choir will offer Epiphany Alleluias by Weaver\, a radiant and uplifting anthem that masterfully blends traditional choral writing with a profound sense of reverence. Also featured will be Morten Lauridsen’s O Nata Lux\, a serene and luminous a cappella motet celebrating the Redeemer. This beloved work is drawn from Lauridsen’s larger composition Lux Aeterna for chorus\, orchestra\, and organ\, and reflects the natural rhythm of chant through its flowing changes in meter. It stands as a jewel of the modern sacred choral repertoire. \nCome and celebrate the close of the Epiphany season with beautiful music that lifts the soul and praises God\, as we prepare our hearts for the beginning of Lent.

SUMMARY:The Feast of the Presentation
DESCRIPTION:February 2 is the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Temple\, also called the Purification of Saint Mary the Virgin\, commemorating the day 40 days after Our Lord’s birth when the Holy Family went to the temple in Jerusalem to present the child and purify his mother as prescribed by Jewish law. When this feast is on a Sunday\, it takes precedence over our usual Sunday observance\, and so we will celebrate this feast Sunday morning\, and then again later in the day at a 5 p.m. Evensong. Evensong is sung Evening Prayer\, a great Anglican tradition\, and it will be led by St. Peter’s Choir under the direction of James Wallace. After the service all are invited to a potluck in the Parish Hall. Please bring a dish to share.
