Can you give me some basic information about St. Peter's?
Our church was built in 1887 and is a magnificent example of Italian Romanesque construction, with intricate brickwork and more than 50 stained glass windows. Our parish history however goes back more than 250 years from our founding in 1768 in downtown Salisbury. We are part of the Episcopal Church and a parish in the Diocese of Easton which covers Maryland's Eastern Shore. On Sundays our average Sunday attendance both in person and on-line averages 300 or more.
Our spiritual leader is Father David Michaud, the Rector who along with Assistant Rector Pastor Greg Harbaugh and Deacon Laura Harbaugh serve the parish. They lead our worship and look forward with other parishioners in greeting you when you come to worship.
St. Peter’s has an active children’s and youth program, with Sunday School for pre-K through grade 5, and St. Peter's Youth Group for middle and high school students which meets Sunday afternoons. St. Peter's Newcomer and Friend Families can participate in the on-line activities offered during the pandemic. For more information go to the Children and Youth Ministries page.
At this time we have three Sunday services::
- 7:45amHoly Eucharist Rite I – this is typically a quiet, said service, with instrumental organ music. It tends to be our most traditional service.
- 9:00am Holy Eucharist Rite II – we tend to have more young families attend this service, and people who like the combination of contemporary music with guitar accompaniment along with traditional hymns sung with the organ. Nursery available for infants to 5 year olds. The St. Peter’s Contemporary Band leads music during this service
- 11:00amSung Holy Eucharist Rite II—St. Peter’s Choir leads more traditional music at this service, which includes organ music, chanting and incense, a great high church worship experience. This is the most formal of our worship services. Nursery available.
Please explore our website to see all that is going on at St. Peter’s, and all the church has to offer. Our mission is to know and to share the love of Christ.
Welcome to St. Peter’s!
