A Message from Our Rector
St Peter’s is committed to its music ministries and supporting a full-time director of music.
On Sunday mornings our 9am service of Holy Eucharist features a string band and singers with organ music. Our 11am service features an Adult Choir every Sunday joined on many Sundays by our choir school and choral scholars accompanied by organ.
St. Peter’s has an accomplished hand bell choir that performs at worship every month.
In addition, St. Peter’s hosts Evensongs, Advent Lessons and Carols, a December Handel’s Messiah Sing Along, Special Services Sung Compline, seasonal concerts and guest musicians.
Music is an important part of parish life. St. Peter’s has a St. Cecilia Guild which raises more than $20,000 each year to help support music initiatives in the parish. We are a leader in the Episcopal Diocese of Easton for liturgical music and have just been named by the Bishop of Easton as a Pro-Cathedral of the Diocese. The parish supports the Choir School of the Eastern Shore as a way for young people to learn and be exposed to high quality choral singing in the Anglican tradition.
The beautiful historic church building was built for music back in 1887, having excellent acoustics for choral singing and instruments. Our new Walker digital organ has depth and range and state of the art technology. The people of St. Peter’s enjoy and support quality music. We are seeking a music director who shares our passion and who will be able to use resources in creative ways to continue to grow our music ministries into the future.
I look forward to collaborating with you as the next Director of Music at St. Peter’s Church, Salisbury, Maryland.
Yours in Christ,
Father David Michaud
