Green Hill Sunday

On Green Hill Sunday, August 24, the Wicomico County Episcopal parishes travel to the mother church, Old Green Hill on the banks of the Wicomico, for an annual 10:00 am worship service and picnic afterwards on the church grounds. St. Peter’s will not have its usual 10:30 am service that day so that we can attend the Green Hill Sunday service (the 8:30 am service will be held at St. Peter’s). Green Hill Sunday is held on the Sunday closest to St. Bartholomew’s feast day (August 24), the patron saint of the church. St. Alban’s rector, the Rev. Margaret Brack, will preside at the service. St. Mary’s Tyaskin’s Priest-in-Charge, the Rev. Dennis Morgan, will be the preacher. Father David Michaud will officiate at the baptism of MacKenzie Morgan during the service. There will be a report from the Venerable Laura Harbaugh, Chair of the Green Hill Church Committee, and a presentation by Phil Tilghman about the Preservation Project.
After the service, all are invited to a community picnic on the church grounds, compliments of the Green Hill Church Committee. We are grateful that the Red Roost is providing the chicken at no cost. Bring chairs and a reusable cup or water bottle if you can. There are a limited number of chairs and cups available.
You are invited to be part of the community choir for the worship service. Rehearsal is at 9 am before the service.
